When are you open?

Denver Locksmiths is Open 24 a day 7 days a week even on Holidays.

What if I can’t verify that the car/house/office is mine or I should be in there?

We will need a letter of authorization from the owner of the car/house/office. If you cannot provide identification, or authorization we will not help you. I am sure the other car, home and office owners will appreciate your cooperation.

Do I need to change my locks or just need my existing locks rekeyed?

Clarification, Changing locks is taking the whole lock, knob/lever, latch and strick and replacing it. Rekeying a lock is taking the existing lock cylinder (leaving the rest) and changing it so that your existing key will no longer work and a new one will. Note, most of the time you will just want your locks rekeyed.

Can you bill my insurance company?

No, you pay us directly and your insurance company will reimburse you if it is in your policy.

What information do you need when I call?

What is your name? – What is your exact Address? – Are you the owner of the car, house or office? – How soon do you need it? – Is this a good number to call you back at?

Will my lock still work after you open it?

Yes, picking a lock or opening a car does not damage the lock or car. Note, the exception is if the lock is damaged or needs to be drilled. Then the lock will need to be replaced.

Are you a bonded and insured locksmith?

Yes. Denver Locksmiths is licensed, bonded and insured, as well as a member of the ALOA (Associate Locksmiths of America) Security Professionals Association, Inc.

Are all locks able to be picked?

No, not all locks are able to be picked. Some residential and commercial locks are high-security and pick resistant.

Do you keep normal hours?

No, “normal” is not the word, because we never close our doors. We are always open, 365 days per year, 7 days a week, 24 hours each day.

How do I verify that I own the home?

We’ll need ID from you that shows the address on it. Otherwise, we won’t be able to help you at that time.

What is better, re-keying or replacement of locks?

Usually, re-keying works for most homeowners in the majority of situations. Replacement is full change-out of the entire lock mechanism, while re-keying is just a change of the cylinder. Whatever you choose, we’ll make new keys for the lock and give them to you before our teams leave.

Do you do direct insurance billing?

No, we don’t. But, we will give you a clear, accurate receipt so you can file a claim with your insurer.

When I phone you, what data will I have to provide?

Standard information like full name, address, phone, and when you want us to arrive. Plus, we will of course ask whether you are the owner of the home.

After you get me in, will my lock be in workable condition?

Yes. Picking doesn’t harm locks. However, if we have to drill, or if the lock mechanism was damaged before we arrived, you might need a new lock.

Are your technicians bonded?

They’re bonded, licensed, comprehensively trained, background-checked, and fully insured. Every one of our employees are members in good standing of the ALOA. That’s the “Associated Locksmiths of America,” Security Professionals Association, Inc.

Is it possible to pick any lock?

No. There are some high-security residential locking mechanisms and systems that are virtually resistant to all attempts to pick them.

What are your hours of operation?

We never close. Our teams work around the clock, 7 days per week, 365 days per year, never taking off for holidays, which means we’re there for our customers whenever they need us.

How can I verify that I am the owner of a vehicle, home, office, or safe?

For your protection, we need proof of ownership. If you are not the owner (for example if you’ve locked yourself out of an office owned by someone else), we need authorization from the owner. In all cases, you need to provide proof of identification for yourself.

Should I have my locks re-keyed or completely replaced?

Replacement means removing the entire lock and putting another one in its place. Re-keying means changing the cylinder and leaving everything else. Both services will require a new key to open the new or re-keyed lock. In most cases, re-keying is all people need.

Can you send the bill directly to my insurer?

You’ll need to pay us directly and file a claim with your insurer if you have coverage.

When I contact your office, what info do I need to provide?

We’ll need your name, proper address, and a good phone number for reaching you. Also, we’ll ask whether you’re the owner of the vehicle, office, or residential home, and how soon you want us to arrive.

After you open my locked car, office, or home, will the lock still work?

Of course. Our technicians are professionals who gain access without damaging the existing lock mechanism. However, if we need to do drilling or the lock is already damaged, you won’t be able to use it after we get you in. You’ll need a new lock in those rare situations.

Are your workers insured and bonded?

Not only insured and bonded but background-checked and fully licensed. All of our technicians are members of the Associated Locksmiths of America, Security Professionals Association, Inc., also known as ALOA.

Can any locks be picked?

No. Some models of commercial and residential locks come with high-security components that make them extremely resistant to being picked.
